botanical-illutration-packaging-design

I am excited to share the finished illustrations from a project I have been working on the last few months.  These are all botanical ingredients, illustrated for a B.C based natural skincare company.  They will be incorporated into the packaging designs and represent some of the most commonly used ingredients in the products.

I look forward to sharing the completed products with you when they have been officially launched!  Stay tuned.

Impressionistic Watercolor Florals

Once in a while I like to loosen up with impressionistic watercolour florals.  I mostly do this for the enjoyment of seeing the movement of the paint on the paper and the blending of colours. Above are a few examples of these florals.  I was able to quickly layout a design on 90 lb watercolour paper and used it as a cover design for my Bullet Journal.Floral Heart

Recent Paintings | Watercolour Birds

My two latest paintings are of birds, I truly love birds and have recently been spending more time bird watching around Vernon.  Two birds that I have seen lately are the Western Bluebird (female) and the Tree Swallow. I thought it would be fitting to do a painting of each.  Both of these paintings are on display right now at Ratio Coffee and Pastry located in the old Vernon train station. My show at Ratio, Flora and Fauna has been extended into late September, so if you have not had a chance to stop by to check it out, make sure you do in the next few weeks.  If you are interested in purchasing either painting, the original framed paintings are both for sale and are $350 each. They can be purchased directly at Ratio. Feel free to contact me at lashtonart@gmail.com with any questions as well.

Recent Paintings | Red Fox Kit

This is a recent painting I completed of a Red Fox kit. A kit is another name for a baby fox. I really love painting foxes and describing all the texture of their fur.  This painting is framed in a 11 x 14 white wooden frame, and is valued at $300.00. CAD.   This painting sold in the live auction at  Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts this year. I am happy to announce that it sold for over it’s fair market value of $300.00! Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts is the annual fundraiser and art auction for Vernon Public Art Gallery.

Recent Paintings | Floral Bouquet

My latest painting is a floral bouquet, inspired by a photo I found Instagram.  I love this arrangement and how it includes flowers and succulents in it. In this painting I focused more on the composition and colour balance than I did on every exact fine detail.  Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from details and add a little artistic license to a painting.

This is a great way to capture your wedding bouquet! Contact me if you are interested in a bouquet portrait of your own, or as a gift to a bride.

Recent Paintings |Siberian Iris

My latest painting is a portrait of three Siberian Irises. These flowers are quite tricky to paint because purple and yellow are complimentary colours and if they mix together at all they create an undesirable brown colour mix. So keeping the colour bright and clean while blending them next to one another is not an easy task.  I did however enjoy painting this flower portrait, Irises are one my favourite flowers. For information on purchasing the original framed painting please contact me.

Recent Paintings | Black Bear

© Ashley Victoria Photography

This portrait of a black bear is a painting I recently completed. This painting was very fun to paint, experimenting with different colour mixes to imply the “black” fur.  I use quotations because I did not actually use any black paint in this painting.  Instead I used varied concentrations of blue grey, burnt sienna, violet, and ultramarine blue. The end results in a more interesting painting with far more depth compared to if I had just used black paint. For information on purchasing the original framed paintings please contact me.

Recent Paintings – Hellebore

The green hellebore shown below is my most recent painting.  My mom brought me some hellebore plants from Victoria and since there is still snow here, I currently have them in my garage under a window.  I was so happy when I went down and saw that they were blooming.  I could not resist and decided to paint a close up of the green flower to match my pink hellebore painting from 2015, (also shown below).. Stay tuned for green hellebore greeting cards and gifts tags to go with the pink hellebore cards and  gift tags currently available in my online shop. For information on purchasing the original framed paintings please contact me.

Recent Paintings – December 2015

A few recent paintings I have completed are shown below.  The Hermit Thrush, which is currently on display at Vernon Public Art Gallery in the exhibition Exposed.  I am very pleased to announce that this painting sold on the opening night of the exhibition!  The second painting is of a Mountain Bluebird, these birds are local to the Thompson/Okanagan and the first time I saw one was in Kamloops. They are strikingly bright blue as shown in the painting. And finally my Red Fox painting, art prints of this painting are available at the Vernon Arts Centre throughout December in their annual art show/sale Artsolutely.
