D.I.Y. Spring Mason Jar Floral Bouquet

Tulips-in-blue-mason-jar-with-floral-bouquet-gift-tag-WEB

Spring is finally upon us!  If you are looking for a quick easy gift for Easter or Mother’s Day this is a great little project to do.

Here’s how to do it:

  1.  Fill a tinted blue mason jar with water, (I found this one in a set of 4 jars at Save On Foods).
  2. Add some gorgeous tulips (trim shorter than the store bought length and create slight height variation).
  3. Get some twine and wrap it around the jar a few times and tie it off with enough left to make a bow
  4. Add a spring inspired gift tag ( I used my floral bouquet gift tag design), just slip it on the left over length of twine, knot it and tie a bow.
  5. Adjust the bow and trim the ties until they are the right length.
  6. Give it as a gift and brighten someone’s day!

If you shop in my online shop and would like to arrange a local pick up rather than pay shipping use this coupon code: FREELOCALPU and leave a note on your order in the notes section.

Botanical Home Decor Inspiration

Though it is not yet showing any signs of spring here in Canada, I am beginning to think about fresh botanicals and how you can incorporate them into home decor and fresher up your living space, no matter what the weather is like outside.  I hope you find these images inspiring, check out my previous botanical home decor post here.

How to Create a Gallery Wall

Below is a great video I found on the Ikea website that shows you how to go about hanging artwork in an awkward space.  By pairing numerous smaller and larger framed prints and original works on paper together you can create a unique personalized display that has more impact than if you had just hung one or two lonely pieces on a large blank wall.  To visit my shop and browse watercolor art prints click here.

How to Create a Gallery Wall

Below is another helpful video on how to hang art in a gallery wall style grouping.  This video uses Ikea frames and a paper template they have available, though you could easily make your own.  I love the unity and impact you can create with grouping likes these.

Getting a Christmas Tree on Cross Country Skis!

Come along with me and ski to get a Christmas tree! Last weekend we threw on our skis and got out into the mountains to find the perfect tree! It felt good to take a break from my busy work schedule and holiday art shows to spend some time in nature!

Botanical Decor Inspiration

Now that I am a home owner I look forward to slowly personalizing my home to reflect my values and interests.  For me that means inspiration from the natural world, showcasing plants, animals, and woodland inspired prints to contrast against neutral wall colours and furniture.  The end result is a mix of light greens and natural items with a little woodsman rustic charm to satisfy both members of the household.
