D.I.Y. Spring Mason Jar Floral Bouquet

Tulips-in-blue-mason-jar-with-floral-bouquet-gift-tag-WEB

Spring is finally upon us!  If you are looking for a quick easy gift for Easter or Mother’s Day this is a great little project to do.

Here’s how to do it:

  1.  Fill a tinted blue mason jar with water, (I found this one in a set of 4 jars at Save On Foods).
  2. Add some gorgeous tulips (trim shorter than the store bought length and create slight height variation).
  3. Get some twine and wrap it around the jar a few times and tie it off with enough left to make a bow
  4. Add a spring inspired gift tag ( I used my floral bouquet gift tag design), just slip it on the left over length of twine, knot it and tie a bow.
  5. Adjust the bow and trim the ties until they are the right length.
  6. Give it as a gift and brighten someone’s day!

Holiday Gift Wrapping Inspiration

This year I decided to spice things up with my wrapping and use all sorts of different wrapping paper I already had kicking around the house.  I also dove deep into the bag of scrap ribbon pieces I have been saving/hoarding for years!  I had a lot of fun pairing my illustrated gift tags with the various looks  I created for under the tree this year.  I hope you find them inspiring, you can find more of my gift tags in my online shop here.

Getting a Christmas Tree on Cross Country Skis!

Come along with me and ski to get a Christmas tree! Last weekend we threw on our skis and got out into the mountains to find the perfect tree! It felt good to take a break from my busy work schedule and holiday art shows to spend some time in nature!

Valentine’s Day Inspiration

Valentines Day InspirationI love holidays!  The main reason I love holidays is because I find them inspiring for creativity and design ideas. These days things do get very commercial around all of the “Hallmark Holidays” in the western world.  I was quite shocked to see Valentine’s Day and Easter candy out in stores by the second week of January!  Perhaps they are a little pre-mature on the mini eggs?

However I think approaching each holiday with creativity and small thoughtful ideas for your loved ones is a very nice thing to do.  Rather than buying fancy or cliche material gifts you can simply make them a lovely breakfast or dinner, or do something to let them know you are thinking of them, if none of these suit your style then a nice little note in a card is always nice.  Check out some creative ideas for Valentine’s Day below.
